Explore Dolmabahçe Palace in Istanbul, known for its elegant architecture, rich history, and Bosphorus views.

Dolmabahçe Palace stands on the European shore of the Bosphorus in Istanbul and reflects the elegance of the late Ottoman Empire. Built in the 19th century during the reign of Sultan Abdülmecid I, it combines Baroque, Rococo, Neoclassical, and Ottoman design influences.

Inside, the palace features 285 rooms and 43 halls decorated with gold details, ceiling frescoes, and luxurious Hereke carpets. The ceremonial hall is especially famous for its massive Bohemian crystal chandelier, one of the largest in the world.

A visit also includes the Harem section, offering insight into the private life of the Ottoman royal family alongside the grand state rooms used for official ceremonies. Dolmabahçe served as the empire’s main administrative center until 1922.

The palace is also historically significant as the place where Mustafa Kemal Atatürk spent his final days in 1938, with clocks preserved at 9:05 in his memory.

Set along the Bosphorus, Dolmabahçe Palace offers both rich history and beautiful waterfront views, making it one of Istanbul’s most important cultural landmarks.
